Preliminary impressions of ITG2...
So, I got in a few games of ITG2 today at Illusionz. So far, I'm liking it much more than the first. Just a quick rundown of some of my observations.
First, the interface. It's now like a cross between IIDX RED and Pump it Up. The font and color scheme just screams IIDX RED, and the splash screen graphics with generic anime-ish characters just screams PIU.
The music is very good. Still a distinct lack of variety (sorry, the J-Pop will have to wait for the next version), but what's there is pretty good.
The steps are much improved over the original. I don't know if all of the original stepchart makers got fired (I'm looking at you, R.McKanna ;)), but things feel much more logical and well put together. In addition, songs no longer say who did the steps, so if a step chart is crappy, I no longer will know who to blame (I'm looking at you, R.McKanna ;)).
It was also glitchy as all hell. Using a memory card managed to crash the game several times after songs. Hopefully this is something that will get worked out soon.
Anyway, I'm holding out hope that this version will be the improvement I was hoping for over the previous version. When I get more time to play, I'll post more.
Since I didn't have much time to take pictures, here's a couple of Flickred pictures of the marquee..
